Table Fables Reading at W.D. Hill Rec. Center in Durham, Jan 13th – Dr. M.L.K. Remembrance & Celebration

On January 13th, I attended the Dr. M.L.K. Day of Remembrance and Celebration from 2:00-5:00 pm at the W.D. Hill Recreation Center located at 1308 Fayetteville Street, Durham, NC 27707.  At my break-out session for the youth, I read the story ‘Bukosi – King of the Ants‘ from the newly released Table Fables.  The kids were ecstatic and I had fun too!

I participated in the Kwanzaa event sponsored by the African American Dance Ensemble (Founded by  Dr. Charles “Baba Chuck” Davis) on Jan. 1st at the Durham Walltown Center, celebrating the culmination event of Imani (Faith). On the seventh and last day of Kwanzaa, the black candle is lit, then the farthest left red, the utmost right green, the next red candle, the 2nd green candle at the right-hand side of the black candle, the final red, then the last and final green candle. This represents the 7th Kwanzaa principle, Imani (ee-MAH-nee) or Faith.
The setting was a perfect event for me to introduce Table Fables to a new audience. I look forward to doing it again.
